Some Lessons in Life I Learned Along the Way

Filed under: Uncategorized — bla at 10:22 pm on Sunday, March 29, 2009

1.  If its too good to be true, it’s not worth your time.

2.  You are the greatest and biggest reflection of your children, do your best.

3.  If a friend is not trustworthy, dump them.

4.  If your marriage is not perfect, embrace it, who has a perfect one anyway?

5.  If life sometimes suck, it will pass.

6. If you are blessed with so much, always take the time to give back in any way you can. Trust me… more blessings will come.

7. If you feel that something is not right, try to avoid it. You’ll eventually be glad you did.

8. If all things fail, talk to God, you will always find peace.

Those are just my thoughts. I hope you also learn from it.

God bless you everyone!

After all the phone calls, emails, discussions, research  and blah blah blah our hard work has paid off.  Thanks God we have such a wonderful travel agent who helped us through all the hits and miss we have bumped into. She basically covered all the International Flights, China domestic flights and HK hotel, China Hotels, private tours to all the cities we are visiting which is such a big help for Joel and I. Now we are on to the final step: picking up our passports which hopefully gets a visa stamp at the China embassy in 5 days.

I used to think that I can manage to do this one like I always do on our previous trips. But this one is different,  It’s too much hopping from one place to another!!! I TRULY TRULY don’t want to make a single mistake.

Even if I only have to take care of the last part of the trip and I still found myself calling so many hotels (Makati, Palawan, Cebu and Bohol) in wee hours of the night to find the right place at the right price and booking domestic flights for the Pinas. As of today ALMOST everything is in place  and all we really need to do is pack up , be there and have fun! Packing part is not so fun though!

PS: still one more major hit and miss. our agent managed to book Joel and I on different flights to Beijing which I only realized while we were waiting for our number to be called the at  Embassy .

life is what you make it…

This years first 2 months has been great and I felt so blessed to be given such an amazing life. God gave me the kind of life that I once only dreamed about.I praise Him so highly for that. I made a lot of changes in my life this year for personal reasons and I’m very happy about it.

My new years resolution worked out just fine. I have to lay low on a lot of things that surrounds me or things that I used to think will define me as  a person. I decided that I don’t really have to make my life chaotic because life is too short to be wasted talking about other peoples lives. So far I could say that I have achieved some of my plans as to the changes that I want to happen this year.

clock is ticking…

So many things to write, so little time to sit down and type it all. I guess life is like that. You go on a fast phase or just slow it down a little bit. Would love to write my thoughts so that one day I can browse back  through those pages and say I had such a great life! or “life’s sucks today”. That would just be nice!

FACE

Today I had one of my early noon wake up call from my Vanessa wanting to nap after a nice breakfast with her dad.I almost forgot my friend Genevieve and her husband and her little bundle of joy Guen are coming over because it’s the guy’s day out for sailing at the Marina.I put Vanessa to her 30 minute nap and grabbed some brunch for myself while I clean up the kitchen too.(gotta hustle when you are a mom).I have to get ready too because ibib and I are going to the mall for my appointment with Virginia for some facial and make over at Estee Lauder.Virginia by the way is my first filipino friend in the US when I had my first job at Macy’s which lasted for a week.My job may have lasted for a week but the friendship is still going strong.

It is always an adventure when you go out with a baby.Speciallly today since I have 2 babies on board.Got to put 2 strollers in,2 car seat in place, 2 excited mom,2 pretty kids on board. We got to the mall peacefully,no cry or whine from either of the 2 little girls.Thats was good!So while Virginia started my make over Ibib went to Starbucks to get her cold drink fix..(whatever it was I forgot the name of the drink)

While Virginia was trying to tell me about all this product that may or may not work wonder on my face.I realized I’m starting to get some wrinkle in the area around my eyes.I’m 31,I thought women only get it in their 50’s.Maybe I didnt put too much attention to it recently but I realized I have to start taking care of my face again. It’s amazing how the smell of all this product can intoxicate you to buy it..hehehe!But Virginia is a good friend she didnt force me to buy stuff that I wont need. She recommended I use a moisturizer. It must have been a month since I run out of my dependable moisturizer(she used to work for clinique so used clinique too) and I never thought of getting a new one until Virginia told me to get an appointment with her.

So thats how my day went.I made myself a promise that I will take care of my face more before its too late.i dont want wrinkle all over my face at a young age.

Four seasons

I cant really say that I hated winter except that it’s my first winter so it was a bit of an adjustment. The news said that the past winter broke a lot of weather records.I have to always put on heavy clothing even in bed. Some people may find me annoying but even if the heater is on Im still always cold and go on and on whining about it.But the fashion is fun…you get to wear boots, heavy jackets, muffler etc.My friends went crazy buying cable sweaters from Express Store.(sale kasi)

Spring?I love it!Its my second spring so knew it will still get little bit chilly and you still have to be ready for warmer clothes.I made a tradition of planting spring plants and rush with other people to Lowe’s to get my favorite plants.Petunia’s,marigolds, impatience, roses etc. Also in different colors red, yellow, white, purple, pink.Never forget some vegetable, this year I got pepper and okra.Unfortunately for the okra the snail ate it before I was able to transfer it to a bigger pot.

Summer is almost here. It’s gonna be fun!!!it’s vacation time.

Fall?Well I find it gloomy. There is one interesting thing that fascinates me during fall season…..the sun has a different tilt which makes shadows appear longer and thinner.

But no matter what the season is… California (to me)will always be one of the best places to live in the world aside from my other home(the Philippines).

Taffy

What can I say about our dog…hmmmm he is kinda old but he made my first year in the US a memorable one.First of all Taffy is a 17 year old cocker spaniel(old huh?)My husband got him 14 years ago when he was 3,they adore each other aside from both of them adoring me..hahaha!!Taffy should I say is one of the reason I like walking around Belmont Heights. He looovess to walk around just a few blocks from our house and knows when that time is….me with his leash in hand.He cant stop but be too excited about it that it takes a while before I can put his leash on his neck.Sometimes we would jog, but he is way too old for my stamina. He would be out of breath after 2 blocks so I have no choice but to just walk instead. He loves smelling the outside world..(I mean he is basically home 7 days a week,so who wouldnt love a treat)There is only one thing I dont like though when I take him to walk…that is the yucky part of it….he loves to leave his own scent along the pavement and sometimes its not just that squirt of pee but…you know what I mean,,,that yucky thing I have to pick up while its hot(duh). But now..I feel sorry for him he is not the same Taffy he used to be (according to hubby).Athletic and vibrant. He is getting too old(for a dog).He pees on the floor, starting to shed a lot of his hair and getting a lot of cyst all over him.

Also whenever my hubby would go camping he makes staying alone in our house a not so scary one.

I really hope that he will still make it a couple more year.He showed me so much love and affection even if I seldom reciprocate.I would willingly give him a bath if he gets too stinky. In my heart Taffy is a great friend and companion.

Cant wait to go back to the Philippines and see my family and friends again. My hands are tied with so many things to do so little time.Hopefully I’ll pull it thru specially my hubby’s birthday party.I wanna make it memorable for him spending it with a hundred of my relatives again.Hahaha! No kidding!I have to do this even if the temperature in Ubay scares me that my hubby would wanna go home after an hour at the beach where his bday party will be.I’m sure I’m going to enjoy it no matter how hot it will be.Well we’ll see what happens then. One of my thoughts too is I wonder if I can even go dip myself in the sea,the gal who pierced my navel told me that it’s a big no no no until 6 months.I may just end up goin knee deep then thats all for me.
